Becoming a legacy is not accidental

I went to a funeral yesterday that moved me-inspired me- and encouraged me to be intentional. Many times we look at a great person and think how gifted or talented they are...but talent can
only take you so far. One only has to watch Ameridan Idol once to know that talent is not enough...it is what one does with that talent that makes them great! They have to work hard and be creative in order to stand out. They must ber intentional in order to win.

Bev made a difference in peoples' lives. Was it her infectuous smile? Was it her joyous spirit which lit up every room she entered? That spirit that caused me to look forward to seeing her again because I knew she would have a positive word for me. Yes it was all those things but I think it was much more. Bev' was intentional. Goodness does not just happen. Strong families do not just happen. Someone is the glue that keeps the family together, making memories, and ties the cords of unity.

Bev did that. She tied the cords by intentionally investing in peoples lives. She found out the fav' food of each family member...sooo when she cooked the feast...there was something for everyone. For some it was creamed corn..another it was the entre...for another it was a pie..etc...no one knew that they were not the only one...they just knew she thought of them specifically.

She listened to the needs....and not just listened...she took action. This does not come effortlessly. Its intentional. Thus she left a legacy. a legacy for her children and her children's children. And God has a special blessing for those that invest in people.

I want to be a legacy. I must be intentional. I must lay down my selfish desires and put others first . Invest in their dreams. Invest in thier lives and experience the joy of the Lord thru the success of others.

Christmas was such a joy. Caleb enjoyed every exciting moment. From making cookies for Santa, getting most of the dough on and in him, to opening all of the gifts. He sat on the lap of every Santa he saw and made sure each one knew that he wanted the Imaginext Dinasaur Tower, and Rocky the Robot...and just about everything else in the toy magazines.

What a hoot! I believe watching the surprise and joy on his face had to make this the best Christmas of my life. His vibrant personality is infectuous. I wish I were as excited about the things of God as he is about life and Christmas topped it all.
God has given us so many precious gifts. If we could receive them as a little child....oh what joy we would find in life. And it is true that its those simple things that God has given that truly bring joy. A child's smile. A hug. and the thrill that a child has when he gets just what he asked for. Caleb is such a gift.
I thank the Lord for a wonderful husband and son. They make me smile from the inside out.

Pumpkin carvin'

EWE!! I'm NOT puttin' my hand in there!" said little Caleb.. We laughed and carved..argued a bit...but carved out some great memories....

Caleb was a blast on Halloween. He was a motorcross guy....and his big personality was bubbling over as he stole the show for the night. An evening of laughter and absolutely funny lines set the tone for the night. I cannot wait until Christmas.

Feeling awful today....can't talk so I thought I'd right. Had my first sale last week sold a few plants. not many but it put me on the map...and gave me some confidence. I'm really liking it. I am soooo excited about planting my poteger (potege') garden. I bought my tomatoe and pepper plants on Mem. day....but can't plant till next week. Waiting is so not in my character....but I wait none the less.

I've been applying for teaching jobs in the area..(do not want to drive 1-1/2 hours to work in the fall...and we are praying for GM....or should I say GOVERNMENT motors....lol..not funny...

anywaz....hoping and praying that shawn does not get layed off. although they need a welding teacher at the carreer center....if he gets the job...he could take a buy out from GM....and teach...that would be way cool....but we are trusting God for His direction.

I will post pics of my garden...but I must tell you something....

I have..or had an UGLY porch...when it came to curb appeal...this house was in desperate need. but with the kitchen renovations...and thousands of other projects... that was NOT going to happen...however..our builder guy...was putting new gutters on the front of the house...and found the roof of the porch caving in...IT WAS NOT ATTACHED TO THE HOUSE..so darn it had ot come down...with the porch...so I got a new very stylish entrance way and new deck...I will post pics... a must see!

kitchen is coming along as you can see below we'll be putting in the backsplash this week..then the trim then the floor...YES!! and then its decorating time...something I absolutely love!!

well thats all for now..

I'm back!

Sorry its took me sooo long but the winter is boring ...and full...and it just doesn't stir the creative writing juices..ok...truth is ..I've been on Facebook and its soooo much quicker..although I like being able to ramble out the little things of life....ya know like a toddler..always can fill up a page with Caleb around...but the cool thing is its summer and its garden time!! whoo hoo!!

So its tilled and ready to go. fertilized and ready to rest for two weeks for planting....and this year I'm going above and beyond the "normal" garden...no neat little rows for me ...I've got dreams of a Potager (Po-ta-je') garden...other wise known in the USA as a kithchen garden...not nearly as romantic. The difference is raised beds which are choreographed with flowers and garden art, and fountains to create not just food but an experience. My garden will have benches and swings..yes ..you know how I love swings...and I am soooo excited. It was beautiful today!

Sun was shining...a bit cool...just in the 60's...but bright sun!

My husband is out putting up my fences. I purchased to faded white picket fence panels from a nursery for 10 bucks. (because they had clearanced them out.) Now I know your thinking what can you do with just 2 panels of fence?!...well I didn't know just then ....but I knew in my mind of mind and brain of brains ...that a stroke of genious was going to hit and then I would know...well it hit me ...to make a corner garden in my front yard..it hints of a border for the yard..and brings in the cottage ambiance I'm looking for ...the sun was casting a beautiful shadow on it as he was installing it and it was beautiful!
My business is underway and I have my first sale this weekend....my current name is Penny Sue's Nursery and Gardens..but I'm tempted to change it to Penny's Perrenies....since I specialize in perennials....I think its catchy...lemme know what you think...
